Driving in Town.

Getting around here is fairly simple. Watch out for police radar guns in some areas, 50 km/h is the general speed limit, 60 on wider streets, 80 on urban highways but only 30km/h in designated residential areas.
Never, ever try to do a u-turn through the tram tracks on dual carriage ways. Trams travel fast, are heavy and can't stop in time if you are in their way. Protect yourself from serious injury.
Be careful too, when someone approaches from the right at unmarked or unsigned crossings. And watch out for cyclists and pedestrians at junctions - they often have right of way and have their eyes on the traffic signal not the traffic. Why? Don't ask.
Sometimes the roads leading towards the bridges can also be confusing. Ramps can easily lead you up onto the bridge by mistake. Just keep going and spin back on the other side of the river - or take a look around there too. Dusseldorf is full of pretty corners.
