The City of Dusseldorf.

Dusseldorf is Germany at its finest. The city has a thriving economy, a relatively low unemployment rate, excellent infrastructure and friendly people. It is an international hub for business and economic relations and a major centre of the Rhine Ruhr Area, Western Europe’s most populated Metropolitan Area after Greater London.

Draw a circle around this location, as numerous other cities dotted all over Europe also do, and it's easy to see how central this city is. Many measurements exist; distance a truck can drive in a day, destinations within an hours flight and population within fifty or one hundred kilometres.

The financial sturdiness and prudence in Düsseldorf is the work of basically one man, who has had a solid mission for the last few years. Saying goodbye to Keynesian methods, the strategy followed is more international, shares have been sold, debt has been radically reduced and investment in youth and sport increased.

Together with his highly competent team, the Lord Mayor, Joachim Erwin has turned this city around, foreign investment is high and the outlook remains positive.
