Dusseldorf, located barely a 150 miles from the North Sea, enjoys a temperate, submaritime climate. Snow in winter is rare and generally ineffectual; in summer, most people get by nicely without air conditioning. It rains rather a lot, and for much of the year the weather is cool and blustery.
The weather is always a top topic. In times of extreme swings in temperature and rapid moving weather fronts sweeping the region, it's good to know how many layers of clothing needed to feel comfortable.
