What do Napoléon Bonaparte, Heinrich Heine and the Dusseldorf's citizens have in common? No matter whether a French Emperor, a poet, politicians, economists, artists or common folk, the inn known as the Small Ship, Zum Schiffchen, offers a haven for a bite to eat.
The oldest restaurant in Dusseldorf offers a menu worthy of its history with traditional Dusseldorf and Rhenish dishes fit to please any gourmet and the menu is available in German, English, French and Chinese. The waiters can advise on choice of dish in many different languages, even if the most popular food chosen by foreign guests are still pigs knuckle, Schweinhaxe, Wiener Schnitzel and sausages.
Partaking of a cool dark beer, Altbier with a meal is a must since the Alt belongs to Dusseldorf as institution, tradition, and impression. So, socialize with others and plunge into the Rhenish culture and experience. Zum Schiffchen is outstanding for lunch, as an adorable station for a small snack, as a great place for dining with a cheerful get-together and become a fresh breeze in the sails that propel the small ship.
