The biggest funfair on the Rhine takes place every summer directly on the shores of the River Rhine with a wonderful view of the old town.

This festival of superlatives is the second largest public festival in Germany after the Munich Beer Festival. More than 4 million visitors romp here every July to enjoy more than 300 of the newest and most adventurous funfair rides, roller coasters and carousels. Numerous booths, food and drinks stalls complete the gigantic funfair city, which covers an area of about 165,000 m ² and a length of 4,5 kilometres.

Many showmen come traditionally year after year and visitors are lured again and again from near and far, including Belgium and the Netherlands. High tech thrill rides for adventuresome guests, many brewery tents from the region like Füchschen  or Diebels provide for a larksome party mood. There are also French and Tyrolean  villages with the scenes of the Eiffel tower, Montmartre, alpine huts and an alpine panorama where specialities typical of those countries are offered.

A public festival of such dimension requires good and careful organisation regarding pedestrians and traffic. The police and the local traffic and the protection associations invest several months of work and preparation in the organization resulting in an uncomplicated orderly and safe fair serviced by excellent public transport. Enjoy.
