German beer is world famous for its outstanding quality and purity. And Germans love their amber nectar. Every region has its popular brands of beer and many are still home to beer specialities like the Kölsch in Cologne or the Altbier in Dusseldorf.
Altbier or just Alt, as it’s often called, is a traditional, top-fermented, amber coloured beer from the lower Rhine region with a light and crisp taste. Ten breweries with bars are still active in Dusseldorf, each providing a unique view into the city’s beer culture.
