The old town autumn, altstadtherbst, is a festival of performing arts that takes place over more than two weeks during September. A changing selection of artists manages to create new spectacular and sophisticated entertainment each year.
Chanson, Opera, Nouveau Cirque, Dance Theatre, Jazz and other types of music or east-west encounters are part of the concept that defines itself in remodelling and new creation. The acts are shown in churches, on stage or in the big theatre tent. This atmosphere ensures impressive and extremely diverse artistic shows. Growing steadily since 1991 the cultural festival has achieved state-wide popularity and acclaim for its experimental and off-beat performances. If one’s happy to try out new things the altstadtherbst is a real feast.
Locations: Theatrical Tent on the "Burgplatz", in churches, industrial rooms and other unusual play sites.
