Innovation, trends, modern art – these terms and concepts are realized and in the NRW-Forum Culture and Economy, NRW-Forum Kultur und Wirtschaft e.V. The modern concept of the NRW-Forum is reflected in every exhibition and in the interior decoration.

It was opened in October 1998 with a speech of the director of the New Yorker Guggenheim Museum, Thomas Krens. This could be considered a significant sign for the relevance of the Forum for the scene of modern art. Even the financing is innovative; incorporating exclusively its own income and that of sponsors being the financial basis of exhibitions.

As the name implies, the museum shows exhibitions which pick out economic and social questions in relation to their cultural context as its central theme. The areas of media, fashion, communication, research or lifestyle belong to these topics. Besides, everyday phenomena like fashion photos or architecture, cars or comics are isolated from their actual meaning to be reconstructed again in a new sensory context. On two floors the guest can view exhibitions like "Peter Lindbergh - Images of Women" and works of the architect O.M. Ungers. Both are examples of the high level of the NRW-Forum.

In the museum and web shop the visitor can acquire exhibit catalogues, witty gimmicks or T-shirts, DVD's and CD's. Furthermore the café in the NRW-Forum is not only hip and perfect to chill out. It offers a small library with catalogues, art books and many magazines on fashion, news and style. Besides the Italian kitchen one can also purchase fresh mint tea and cakes.
