In 2002 the K21 was opened as a museum for contemporary art. Located in the Ständehaus in a park at the Emperor’s pond, Kaiserteich, near Graf-Adolf-Platz this impressive building with it's glass roof is a incredible exhibiton space.
Complementing K20, it focuses on art from the late 20th and the 21st century. Amongst other pieces there are works by Jeff Wall, Andreas Gursky and Thomas Pouring. Following the acquisition in 2004 of the Ackermann collection, one can also marvel at works of Reinhard Mucha, Tony Oursler or Imi Knoebel. The museum is very proud of a group of works from the time of the Arte Povera. Changing exhibits can also to be viewed alongside the collections.
The Bar am Kaiserteich, which was created by the artist Jorge Pardo, provides quite a setting within which you can relax in seemingly psychedelic bubble.
