Soccer is the most popular sport in Germany. But even playing soccer was a privilege at the end of the 19th century. The first soccer club was BFC Germania, founded in Berlin in 1888.
Two years later the German Soccer Federation (Deutsche Fussball Bund) followed; the German national team won the world championship three times. The enthusiasm for this sport grows and grows.
In Germany today, there are about 27000 clubs. In Düsseldorf there are twenty, which are constantly on the lookout for new talent.
