Healthy organic Food made in Germany? The value of healthy food with ecologically pure origin is rising according to a topical study by the society for consumption research, market research and marketing research, GRP.
This trend is also reflected in the development of the possibilities for shopping organic and wholesome produce. The term bio, organic is an abbreviation of biological, biologisch and refers to health products in general. Today there are not only small whole food shops to be found. During the last years several organic supermarket chains have opened.
Some supermarkets and discounters also have their own organic product lines. This section of the market stands for the development of a broader group of buyers, but also an aggressive price policy. Expressed in the difficulties of farmers to produce cheap ecological products of high quality, that also means that smaller whole food stores have to bear the brunt too, in spite of their good quality.
Experts see the long-term danger that German producers will suffer in international comparisons. As a protection against abuse of the status of organic food, an official bio-seal was generated as a sign for ecological products, which is attached to strict regulations. Rigorous controls and high penalties serve to prevent offence and abuse.
Unfortunately there are often elusive organic names on the products of discounters and supermarkets. To ensure an authentic bio product is bought, follow a rule of thumb and only purchase goods with an official symbol because the biological and green concepts that are protected by EU Green law and order guarantee a truly organic product.
