The mother of all charity shops. We’re lucky to have one in Düsseldorf. Oxfam opened one of the world’s first charity shops in 1948 in the UK under the initiative the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief, hence Oxfam.
Since then they have earned the reputation as being one of them most effective aid organisations on the planet. Just 11% of the donations go towards the running costs of this great charity so please don’t throw your re-saleable stuff out. Take it along to the Oxfam shop who will be happy to accept anything in good condition during opening hours. That is until 7pm during the week and 3pm on a Saturday.
