Medicine, economics, social history and art are the main reasons why students come to Düsseldorf to study.
With 20,000 students attending Heinrich Heine University, one would assume that Düsseldorf is a vibrant student city. However, in comparison to other University cities such as Freiburg, Heidelberg and Tübingen, Düsseldorf’s student life is small-fry in comparison.
One reason for this is the fact that many of the students attending third level institutes in Düsseldorf are commuters and commute home to nearby cities, towns and suburbs on a daily basis.
