IIK's mission is best defined as "understanding the world". Since 1989, when the IIK was established as a non-profit company by the German Linguistics department of Heinrich- Heine- University, it has become one of Germany's most successful providers of university-oriented language education and communication training. Approximately half of the 6.000 students studying annually come from abroad to study in Düsseldorf.
Internationalization and Foreign Languages
The IIK focuses on many areas of language development in German, English, Dutch, French and Spanish and offers a variety of courses for students and professionals:
- study courses that cater to a younger audience
- special “crash courses” for graduates
- a wide variety of additional language and communication training courses
Examination Center
As an internationally licensed test center, we provide testing for professional and student-oriented exams used around the world. Approximately 3,000 students take the test for english studies (TOEFL) each year at the IIK — more than at any other test center in Germany.
